Eye exams

Exams built around your lenses

We don't replace your own eye doctor's routine exams. Our exams measure the front of the eye, check how it handles lenses and look at eye health so we can fit and follow lenses well. If you don't have an eye doctor, we'll give you a copy of what we find to take to one.

  • A measurement visit of about 90 minutes

  • Lens checks of about 30 minutes

  • A yearly eye health check on the lens schedule

What happens

What an exam with us covers

  • Mapping the cornea

A scan of the shape of the front of the eye. It takes a few minutes and doesn't touch the eye.

  • Eye health check

A look at the front of the eye with a slit lamp, and at the back where lenses and your health call for it.

  • Vision and prescription

Your prescription for glasses and for lenses, measured with the lenses on and off.

  • Lens fit and comfort

How a lens sits and moves, and what the eye looks like after wear.

Before you come

What to bring

  • Your records or referral

Anything your doctor sent, or notes from your last eye visit.

  • Current glasses and lenses

With their cases, and the boxes if you still have them.

  • Insurance cards

Vision and medical, so we can check which pays for what.

  • A list of your medicines

The names and doses, and any eye drops.

Questions

Exam questions

How often should I come?

On the schedule we set at your fitting, then every six to twelve months. Your own eye doctor decides how often you need a routine exam.

Is my eye exam billed to my vision plan?

Some parts may be, and some go to medical insurance. How fees work explains which is which.
